Calling Consumer Article Manufacturers: Join Our Project Proposal under the LIFE Call 2024

LIST and other project partners plan to submit a project proposal under the EU LIFE Call for spring 2024, aimed at promoting sustainability and fostering innovation in the consumer articles industry. As we embark on this exciting venture, we look for motivated industrial partners involved in producing consumer articles to join forces with us. Join Our Project Proposal under the LIFE Call 2024!

About the project idea:

Our proposal focuses on addressing substances of concern (i.e., substances of very high concern (SVHCs) under REACH, substances classified as Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, or Toxic for Reproduction (CMR) or Endocrine Disruptors (ED) in consumer articles and their production processes. Through a collaborative effort with industrial partners, we seek to explore how the use of such substances can be minimized using Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) and/or supply chain actions. This initiative aligns perfectly with the overarching goal of the LIFE program – promoting environmentally sound practices and contributing to the EU's sustainability objectives.

How can you get involved?

If your company manufactures and/or sells consumer articles (commonly used goods such as kitchen ware, sport utensils, clothes, outdoor clothes, plastic and bathing toys, interior accessories) and you are keen on enhancing the sustainability of your products and production processes, this project offers an opportunity for collaboration. We are actively seeking industrial partners who have a thorough understanding of the substances of concern used in their products and production processes and are eager to replace them with safer alternatives or improve the production design or management. Whether it involves exploring new materials, implementing innovative production techniques, or adopting alternative supply chain measures, your participation will be instrumental in driving positive change within the industry. The LIFE programme requests concrete substance reduction measures which need to be described in the proposal – some preparatory work will be needed to make up your case.

Why participate?

Be at the Forefront of Sustainable Innovation: By joining this project, your company can showcase its commitment to environmental safety and contribute to sustainable development in the consumer articles sector.

Access Expert Guidance and Support: As part of the project consortium, you will gain access to a network of experts and professionals dedicated to sustainable practices, enabling you to make informed decisions and achieve optimal results.

Visibility and Recognition: Participants in this initiative will be recognized as contributors in sustainable manufacturing, enhancing your company's reputation and opening up new opportunities for collaboration and growth.
