Candidate List updated
On the 12th of January, four substances have been added to the <link http: echa.europa.eu candidate-list-table _blank>Candidate List for authorisation which now contains 173 substances: 4,4’-isopropylidenediphenol (bisphenol A; BPA) and Nonadecafluorodecanoic acid (PFDA) and its sodium and ammonium salts which have been added because of the two substance having the SVHC properties of being toxic for reproduction. The other two substances, p-(1,1-dimethylpropyl)phenol and 4-heptylphenol, branched and linear, have been added to the list because of having probable serious effects on the environment.
As a reminder, the use of these “substances of very high concern” (SVHC) is not forbidden. They may continue to be placed on the market but are subject to communication duties by suppliers in accordance with Articles 31, 32 and 33 of REACH.
Manufacturers and importers of articles that contain one of the substances must notify ECHA pursuant to Article 7.2 REACH. The deadline for notifying the newly added substance is the 12th of June 2017.
