On the 14^th December 2021, nearly 70 participants took part of the 2021 edition of the REACH&CLP annual conference, organised online by the REACH&CLP Helpdesk Luxembourg with the support of the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Economy.

During this new edition Mr Lucien Hoffmann from the Luxembourg Institute of Science and technology (LIST) gave us the honour of delivering the opening speech. He came back on the 2021 challenges for companies.

The first presentation of the conference was dedicated to the different obligations entered into force during 2021 and on the actions that are on going concerning REACH and CLP

Following this presentation, the Environmental administration (AEV) overview of market surveillance projects of 2021 and brief lookout to main projects in 2022.

Due to the application of the duty to declare articles in the SCIP database, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) gave an overview of the SCIP database with a first part on the legal context and a short explanation about the tools and a second part showing how information on the database can be searched.

To know how exactly the implementation of the SCIP database impacts waste operators, Lamesch Exploitation s.a. provided a testimony and explained that even if such database has a certain interest for their activities, it is difficult to exactly know the origin of the products they receive due to the multiple flow of wastes.
