Feedback on the online session on SDS and chemical risk assessment

On 20 June 2023, almost 90 participants attended the online conference on Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical risk assessment, organised by the REACH&CLP Luxembourg Helpdesk.

The REACH&CLP Luxembourg Helpdesk organised this online session to inform companies about their SDS obligations throughout the supply chain and provide keys to assessing chemical risks.

This session provided an opportunity to review the general requirements for SDSs (content of headings, obligations to provide an SDS, exposure scenarios), to mention the new information on nanomaterials and endocrine disruptors that must be included in an SDS from 1 January 2023, to provide information on the current European project to monitor the compliance of SDSs (REACH-EN-FORCE 11) and to reaffirm the central role of SDSs in protecting employees and the environment. The physico-chemical, toxicological, ecotoxicological and regulatory data contained in the SDS of chemical products help to identify health and environmental hazards and provide information on chemical risk management. The information contained in SDSs is also useful in the context of chemical risk assessment, a subject addressed during this webinar by presenting the general principles of risk assessment, risk management and the tools and databases available on the market.

This online session also served as a platform for participants to ask questions on the various regulatory aspects of SDSs and chemical risk assessment.

The presentations and video are available on the event's dedicated page.
