The authorisation for using glyphosate in the EU has expired and EU authorities are currently deciding whether to renew it. The European Commission has extended the authorisation temporarily until the end of 2017 while waiting for an independent scientific opinion on classification of the substance by ECHA’s Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC). The Commission will make the final decision on the classification of glyphosate.
