Annex II REACH updated
On the 26th of June 2020, an amendment of the Annex II REACH (Regulation (EU) 2020/878) on requirements related to the content of the safety data sheet (SDS), has been published to the Offical Journal.
This update takes into account in particular the specific requirements related to nanoforms introduced by the Regulation (EU) 2018/1881 whose information must be included in the SDS.
It also takes into account the requirements of Annex VIII of CLP on poison centres centers allowing, among other things, that the unique formulation identifier (UFI) is indicated in the SDS only with regard to the dangerous mixtures supplied for use on industrial sites. It will also be required that for certain mixtures which are not packaged the UFI number has to be indicated in the SDS.
This amendment also introduces the fact that, if available, the specific concentration limits, the multiplying factors and acute toxicity estimates set in accordance with CLP should be provided in the SDS, since there are relevant for the safe use of substances and mixtures.
Without prejudice to the obligation to update the SDS in accordance with Article 31(9) REACH or in the case where the UFI number must be included in the SDS, the SDS established in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2015/830 may continue to be supplied until the 1st January 2022.
This regulation will be applicable on the 1st of January 2021.
