On the 15^th of January, seven substances have been added to the Candidate List for authorisation which now contains 181 substances. On entry of the Candidate List has also been updated concerning bisphenol-A.

As a reminder, the use of these “substances of very high concern” (SVHC) is not forbidden. They may continue to be placed on the market but are subject to communication duties by suppliers in accordance with Articles 31, 32 and 33 REACH.

Manufacturers and importers of articles that contain one of the substances must notify ECHA pursuant to Article 7(2) REACH. The deadline for notifying the newly added substance is the 15^th of July 2018.
